pT On’Thursday evening the Foxton . Rifles paraded 43 strong at the drill shed under Capt, ard Lieut. Baker, and the la named officer put ' the company through’ some useful 1 movements in the street. During evening an election was held for the position of second lieutenant, which resulted in QuarterMaster Sergeant Jonson y returned trooper of the lata Sixth N'.Z. Contingent) being elected, he being the only candidate nominated. One new member was balloted for and accepted. Sergt. Hamer informed the company that he was giving a trophy, and explained the conditions under which it was to be shot for. Captain Walsh informed the company that be had received a cheque from the Defence Department for £B, being the 22nd prize in the recent volley firing competitions, which was won by the Foxton Rifles.
