Fighting in Venezuela
The Venezuelan revolutionists hold Ciudad-Bolivar (Angostura), on the Orinoco.
The gunboats Bolivar and Restaurador bombarded the town, firing six hundred sheila. An attempt was made to land, but it failed. Many wore killed.
The British residents have applied for warships to be sent for their protection.
General Botha Supersedes Mr Kruger.
Mr Kruger is going to Mentone, in the south of France.
It is reported that the ex-President retired from the leadership of the Boer people at the Utrecht Conference, and that General Botha succeeds him..
Mr Kruger is dictating his memoirs, which will be published in November.
Dr Leyds has refused General BotlTs request to account for a large sum of money, alleging that bis secretary disbursed it to assist the Boer cause.
