THE YACHTING CRUISE.

When the King and Queen were at Cowes on Sunday evening they visited the Benedictine Convent, where they stayed nearly an hour. Sir Frederick Treves, Surgeon to the King, took leave of his Majesty on Tuesday. Sir Francis Baking, Physician in Ordinary, remains in attendance.

Lord Knollys, Private Secretary to the King, has written to Sir Edmund Barton on behalf of his Majesty thanking Captain Chuck, of Sydney, for a walking-stick, which the King accepted as a most interesting relic of Captain Cook’s ship Endeavour. “Truth" states that the King’s yachting cruise will include Ireland, where he will visit the Cork Exhibition. His Majesty will arrive at Aberdeen about ths end of the month, and will thence go to Balmoral, the Royal residence in the Highlands.

INTERVIEW WITH THE SHAH. The Shah of Persia visited King Edward aboard the Royal yacht in the Solent. He had an interview lasting two hours with bis Majesty., The Shah received the Garter of Grand Cross of St. Michael.

A gunner, while firing a salute to the Shah aboard the warship Victory, was killed, the charge exploding prematurely.
