Liberal Victory at the Polls.

RESULT OF A LEEDS ELECTION. The election of a member .of the House of Commons for Leeds North, caused through the Right Hon. W. L. ► Jackson being raised to the peerage, resulted in the return of the Liberal candidate by a majority of 758 votes. The polling figures produced a great sensation when they were announced in Parliament. . The result of the election is mainly attributed to the Education'Bill and the inadequate public control of the schools, also the forcing of the measure through by ah all-night sittings The electioneering placards contrasted a big Liberal with a little Protectionist loaf, although the price of bread is practically unaffected by the recent corn duties.
