Foxton Borough Council.
A special masting of the above Council was held at the Library Build* ing on Tuesday evening, Cr Hennessy in the chair. All the Councillors were present. Proposed by Cr Speirs, seconded by Cr Purcell, That the motion of the last meeting postponing the election of Mayor to the next ordinary meeting of- . the Council be rescinded. Carried. Proposed by Cr Purcell, seconded by Cr Robinson, That Cr Hennessy be appointed Mayor for the remainder of the term.
As an amendment, Cr Speirs proposed, and Cr Baker seconded, That Mr Thomas Westwood be elected for the position of Mayor. Not carried. Proposed by the Mayor, seconded
lay Cr Symons, That this Council acfCept Councillor Austin’s resignation ieith regret. Carried. Proposed by Cr Symons, seconded ► by Cr Purcell, That the clerk take the necessary stops to have the outlet to the drain leading from Purcell-street cleaned out. Carried. Proposed by Cr Baker, seconded by by Cr Walsh, That the Traffic Manager be asked to delay the 3.15 train till 10 o’clock p.m. on the 26th June to Palmerston. Carried. Proposed by Cr Gower, seconded by Cr Robinson, That the metalling be delayed till the dry weather. Carried. Proposed by Cr Speirs, seconded by Cr Baker, That two hundred trucks of gravel be ordered at once in lots of about ro or 12 trucks at % time. Not carried. Proposed by Cr Walsh, seconded by Cr Baker, That the Minister of Railways be requested to inform the Council as soon as possible if the Department is willing to exchange the portion of their land for the road according to the plan sent some time since. Carried. Proposed by Cr Speirs, seconded by Cr Baker, That the roadman be instructed to repair Russell-street forthwith. Carded.
