The captains and officer# of the two Japanese warships (Hi-yei and Kongo), now in (he Auckland port, entertained a large number of citizens on beard* In a speech Captain Iwasakl expressed thanks for the kind treatment and good feeling extended to the Japanese, and added: "We are very proud of the treaty just entered iato. We highly esteem you as our allies, and we should bo so pleased if you find that •- Japan deserves your alliance.
