“ Our -Navy.”

The unique and fascinating entertainment, “ Our Navy,” will be 'shown here for the first time on Thursday evening nest at the Public Hall, under the direction of Mr Charles MacMahon. For tho past three years “Our Navy” has been running at the London Polytechnic, and the Australian tour was a triumphal march. In Sydney, “ Our Navy ” ran for ten weeks to packed houses, and in Melbourne for two months to the same business. Over 400,000 paid to see the entertainment in these two cities alone. A record season of twelve nights has just been concluded at the Opera House, Auckland. Commenting on the perform: aace, the Auckland Herald says—- “ Our Navy ” gives an absolutely faithful presentation of the building up of Britain’s great naval force—the muscle, the grit and the sinew—and makes the onlooker realise more fully than ever the wonderful results of modern training, and no leas the marvellous improvements in the vessels and the implements of war which enables our supremacy on the sea to remain unquestioned. The pictures are so well chosen and so well grouned in sequence that they take the audience behind the scenes aeffi make the life of Jack an open secret; show him at his work and at his play; picture his gallantry, and his expertness; deal with his life from the stage of tho raw recruit to that of tho trained and finished defender ; and in all respects give a thorough and instructive lesson in what our navy and its parts really are. No bioseopic entertainment seen in Auckland has shown the same amount of excellence in quality as this, the latest one. Last night’s audience, which was an overflowing one, so appreciated the fare set before them that not a picture was allowed to pass without a round of applause, and many were so well liked that those in front would soon have seen them repeated. The instrument used for the projection of the scenes was of up-to-date capacity, throwing clear and steady pictures on the soreea. The light wai good, find

there was a minimum, of Bicker. An admirable lecture strung the series together, this being delivered with clearness of enunciation and good elocutionary style by Mr L. Butler. A great feature were tha effects introduced behind the scenes, which, added to the realism of the animated pictures. Magnificent as a whole, the living pictures need no special commendation singly, each being remarkable for its fidelity and picturesque effect.” The box plan is now open at Mr Alf. Fraser’s.
