Foxton Borough Council.
Last night at 7.30 the Council held a meeting to instal the Mayor in office. Present—Crs Speirs. Baker, Walsh, Robinson, Gower, Hennessy, Purcell and Symons. The Mayor signed the usual declaration and said he hoped this year he would be able to do something for the benefit of the town—at any rate to metal the back roads. Cr Hennessy congratulated the Mayor on starting his second term of office. He hoped that on the deputation the Mayor was going to take to Wellington, on the question ofloans to local bodies, he would secure success. He hoped he would also attend a banquet at Bulls on completion of the tramway.
