Earthquakes.

Between 6 and 10 minutes to one o’clock am. on Friday two very sharp shooks-of earthquake were experienced. and were more severe than any we have felt for a few years. No damage was done. About six minutes to 1 o’clock on Friday morning, one of the severest shocks of earthquake experienced in Palmerston for a long time was felt. The direction appeared to be between north-east and south-west. The vibration was distinctly felt for fully 15 seconds. The shook was preceded by a loud rumbling noise. The eruption of Mount Felee, in the island of Martinique, West Indies, is still proceeding. A hundred and fifty persons have been killed. A shock of earthquake was felt in the South Australia State on the 7th. No damage was done.
