The Sciliy Islands.

The other day the King paid an unexpected visit to the Sciliy Islands, which lie about 27 miles off the Land’s End, Cornwall. The islands are very numerous, six of the largest ranging from 1528 acres to 269 acres. The climate is mild and damp and the temperature is extremely equable. Farming is practised, and early potatoes and brocoli are exported ; the chief industry is the cultivation of narcissus and other lilies, 100 tons being shipped in a single spring. The visit was made to inspect one of these gardens worked by Dorien Smith.
