FOXTON OUTLETS.

TO THE EDITOR OF THE MANAWATU HERALD Sißr— Returning from Palmerston to Manakau by road, via Foxton, I noticed with pleasure that ai last there seems to be some probability of the principal road outlet from the port of Foxton being put in a condition worthy of the district. It is, I think, generally aoknow-. ledged that, but for the bad lack of combination on the part of the old settlers, that most necessary undertaking would have been accomplished twenty years ago to the benefit of the town and district generally. The Ngawhakarau section is being formed in an excellent manner, and when metalled will make an admit-. able driving road, almost out of roaoh of possible floods. A considerable portion of the track from Bainesse to Carnarvon junction has also been metalled, leaving only a mile or two yet to be formed before connecting with the Sandon road, which will complete the link between Palmerston to Foxton. Now that the Manawatu is bridged at, Wirokino, I feel sure that were this piece of road put in good going order tourists and others journeying by road to Palmerston from Levin, Otaki and down the coast would prefer taking this routs to the very uninteresting hilly road traversing the Manawatu line of railway. And no doubt many Palmerston residents would avail themselves of a pleasant drive to the sea-beach. This would of course be beneficial to Foxton, and I trust the residents will not cease from agitating the County Council Until this most important of Foxton's outlets is completed. I am, &0., Robt. Cobb, • Court Farm, Manakau.
