The Price of Flour.

A mass meeting called by the Trades and Labour Council to protest against the action of the Millers’ Trust in raising the price of flour was held in Cathedral square, Christchurch, on Saturday night. The president of the Council, who presided, said the meeting was called to give the people of Christchurch an opportunity to protest against the formation of trusts and monopolies in the colony such as bad obtained so much power in older countries. Some very stirring addresses were given, and the meeting was unanimous and enthusiastic throughout. Resolutions were adopted protesting against the necessaries of life being monopolised by private individuals, and urging the Government to introduce a Food Trusts Bill providing for the State taking over any trusts that may be formed.
