Volunteer Notes.

Last night the local volunteers, under their officers, marched out to their camp on the racecourse, where they will go through their animal week’s training. Sergt.-Major Coklough, Government Instructor, was also present and put the men through a good hour’s work this morning. The tents are pitched in the saddling paddock, and are well sheltered both from rain and wind. The large diningroom in the grandstand is used as a mesa room, where the men are able to have their meals comfortably. The volunteers have been fortunate in getting the services of the Messrs Langley Bros, to do the catering, in whose hands there will be no cause (or complaint.
