The Bishop gave an address, pointing out the duty of the people to the clergy- ’ ’ After the service an ad journment was made to the Sunday School were light refreshments were partaken of, and the Rev. H. F. Wilson was cordially welcomed to the district, and a presentation made to the Rev, Hugh Leach. Mr W. S. '.-He. handed Mr Leach a bandsopse travelling bag, and knowing something of the climate of Pahiatua, a cycling capo as well. Mr Leach feelingly thanked the subscribers for their present and indentally mentioned that did the men interest themselves in church work as much as the women, the church would be in an excellent position. The Rev. Mr Harper also spoke, mainly about his late curate, _ the Rev. H, F. Wilson, and committed him lovingly to the congregation. He mentioned the term he bad worked in Palmerston where he had gained the affection of the people, and he asked the church people to mention anything they would like to see done to Mr Wilson, and not to leave him to find everything out, and especially to’ mention to him whom they knew were sick. There was a large gathering j.nd everything passed off very pleasantly. The Bishop and Mrs Wallis attended the gathering- but his Lordship took no part in any of the functions. The ladies are to be congratulated on what was distinctly their own movementf and the evening will be remembered pleasantly by all who took part in it.
