Foxton Racing Club.

The Committee of tb« above'Club *held a meeting on Tuesday evening. , Present—Messrs Jenka (in the chair) W. Robinson, W. Purcell, H. Thyflae, T. Symons, G. Gray and the secretary (J. R. Whyte). The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. * _ Correspondence read, including a •' letter from the hon. secretary of the Foxton Rifles, asking for the use ot the course for a camp to be held in February. The request was granted. The holder of the outside gates applied for a refund owing to the fire on* the course.

The meeting passed a resolution that they could not recognise any claim.

An additional sum of two guineas was voted to A. Keith tor his assistance-'" during race week. The stakes amounting to £BOO were s passed for payment, as well as other accounts.

It was stated by the secretary that the profit on the meeting amounted to £3OO, and taking into consideration tha outstanding liabilities for the improvements on the course, the balance to profit after paying these would be about £l4O.

The steady advance this Club has made is clearly shown by the following:—ln 1894-5 £340 was given, in stakes for the one day’s meeting; in 2895-6 a two day’s meeting was held, when £SOO was given in stakes and tha receipts were £921; in 1896-7 £SOO was given in stakes and the receipts were £844; in 1897-8 the stakes ware increased to £6OO, and the receipts rose to £894; in 1898-99 the stakes were again £6OO and the receipts £1023; in 1899-00 £650 was paid in stakes, and the receipts rose to £1045; in 1900 01 the stakes were raised to £750, and the receipts rose to £1215; and the last meeting the stake&wero £BOO and the receipts £1490.
