(Before Messrs Alf Fraser and F. E. Jeaks, J.’s P.
William Barker, charged with being drunk, was convicted and discharged. Walter Rowlands, charged with being drunk, was convicted and fined ss, in default 24 hours’ imprisonment. Walter Rowlands was convicted of using obscene language, and fined 20s and costs, in default 7 day’s imprisonment.

John Nicholson, charged with being drunk, was convicted and fined ios pr 48 hour’s imprisonment. John Spalman, charged with being drunk (having been twice previously convicted within six months), was convicted and fined 40s or 7 day’s imprisonment. Two first offenders who pleaded guilty to a charge of drunkenness were convicted and discharged. Pera Witi was convicted of being drunk and discharged. Pera Witi was charged with the theft of two coats, the property of John Spelman. Accused in defence admitted having the coats, but stated he had stayed the night at Spel man’s and his own coat being wet he took the coats and left his own. Convicted and fined 40s, costs ns, or 7 day’s imprisonment with hard labour. The coats to be returned to owner.
