NEGOTIATIONS FOR PEACE.
Sir E. M. Satow, who succeeded Sir Claude Macdonald as British Minister at Pekin, has been instructed to demand certain additions to the joint note of the Powers, with regard to the settlement of the Chinese difficulty.
America is co-operating to ensure binding and operative character of the arrangements.
