The Viceroy left his day-book, and an entry ocdurs showing that on July 12 (the day he fled) 10,000 taels were given to the chief Boxer, Chang-te-Cbing, for food for his men.

There is an entry of Tis — 40 to a wounded Boxer, and Tis 100 to the family of Ma-kun-san, a Boxer killed in action. In the same book is this entry :— " The heads of two foreigners delivered to the Viceroy Tis 30 for oacb. given to bearer." A complete register of all the Boxers in all the villages around Tien-tsin, giving names, ages, Ac, waa also found.
