Proof of Guilt of Chinese Government.
The capture of Tien-tsin city on 15th July by the Allied Forces was so unexpected that the various government officials had not time to hide their treasure or destroy their documents. Accounts were found which clearly incriminate the officials with the Boxer movement. The Viceroy left his day-book, and an entry ocdurs showing that on July 12 (the day he fled) 10,000 taels were given to the chief Boxer, Chang-te-Cbing, for food for his men.
There is an entry of Tis — 40 to a wounded Boxer, and Tis 100 to the family of Ma-kun-san, a Boxer killed in action. In the same book is this entry :— " The heads of two foreigners delivered to the Viceroy Tis 30 for oacb. given to bearer." A complete register of all the Boxers in all the villages around Tien-tsin, giving names, ages, Ac, waa also found.
