Manawatu County Council.

The annual meeting was held at Sanson on Wednesday. Present— Org J. G. Wilson, T. Masters, H Hammond, T. Clark, F. Robinson, and J. R. MoLennan.

On the motion of Cr Kobinson, seconded by Cr Masters, Cr J. G. Wilson was unanimously re-eleoted Chairman. Cra J. G. Wilson and H. Hammond were re-elected representatives to Palmerston North Hospital and Charitable Aid Board. SPECIAL HEETIN3. The resolution passed at special meeting held on 7th ult., making security for JB4OO loan for construction of Elkins-Motuiti road, was confirmed. A resolution, making a special rate of l-18th of Id in the £ over the whole county, as security on the loan of £7000 proposed to be raised for extension of tramway was adopted. ORDINARY MEETING. At the conclusion of above meet* ing an ordinary meeting was held, the same Crs attending. Cr Strang was granted leave of absence. Correspondence was dealt with as follows :— From Lands and Survey Department, stating that the matter of closing a road in the Ohakea estate i had been provided for in the Lands | for Settlement Consolidation Act. The oonsent of the Council would not therefore be required. From Horowhenua County Council, Btating it was proposed to hold a meeting of delegates of the local bodies interested in the question of drainage of sewage of Palmerston North borough into Manawatu river. From J. T. Whyte, re condition of Foxton-Shannon road.— Mr Whyte had been informed that the road in question is a boundary one between County and Foxton Borough Council and was under control of latter body. Messrs W. Richmond, Sutton, and Mudford, waited on Council in support of their request that Couper's line be improved. — The Council decided to meet the deputation at Mr Couper's house on December 11th at 11 a.m. That the action of the Chairman and Councillor Robinson in accepting P. E. Darnell's tender for working Scott's Ferry and signing the agreement in connection therewith be confirmed. That tenders be called for metalling the newly formed portion of Lee's line, to be in on 12th December. That M. Boyle's tender for contract for laying out Rongotea Square and metalling roads be accepted. That tenders be called for work on Elkins-Motuiti road, to be in if possible by next meeting. The Council adjourned to December 12th Advocate.
