The Truant Inspector.
4 The secretary of the Wanganui School Committee informed the Board that at the last meeting of the Joinmittee the following resolution was earned : - That, while recogui.sing the importance of maintaining the compulsory attendance of the children, the Committee consider that many cases of prosecution of late have been unduly harassing to parents of children, and in the opinion of this Committee the Truant Inspector should make careful inquiry as to the cause or reason of absence before prosecuting, and that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Board After discussion, it was resolved to reply, " that the Board regrets that the Wanganui School Committee should think it has cause to complain about the action of the Truant Inspector, and as the Committee states that there have been many cases of prosecution which are unnecessarily harassing, if they will name a few the Board will make the necessary inquiries."
