The Late Trooper C. Enderby
♦•■•-- -• -- J Mr E. Enderby. of Wanganui, has received from Lieut.-Colonel Robin the following letter, written at Com- | mando Nek on August Bth, with reference to the death of his son, Trooper Enderby, of the first contingent, formerly stationmaster at Kaitoke :— Sir,— Please allow me to convey to you the great, sorrow and sympathy the officers, non-coms, and men of the New Zealand contingents feel for you and yours ir the sad loss you and the regiment have sustained by the death of your son, No. 89, Trooper C. Enderby, from enteric fever at Pretoria on 25th July, 1900. He was one of our best soldiers, and was respected by all. At the time of his death he was doing duty on the Pretoria railway station, and had excellent prospects, the staff officers speaking well of him. His remains are buried in the Pretoria Cemetery, and his belongings are in charge of Sergeant Glynes, who will forward them. The regiment is so much on the move lately as flying column that I regret not writing before ; but, dear sir. believe me there is not one among us but sympathises with you. He was a brave and most excellent soldier.
