BADEN-POWELL ON MAFEKING. Lieut.«Major General Baden-Powell declares the garrison at Mafeking might have slipped away from the town at any time, but simply adhered to his instructions, which were to draw the Boers off the British Colonies of Rhodesia and Bechunaland. THE WAR OFFICE ACTIVE. It is officially stated that the War Office is about to create 76 new batteries of artillery, and 14 new regiments of line. The War Office is also reorganising the transport service and largely increasing the Army Service Corps and Army Medical Service.
