THE TRIANGLE.

TO THB EDITOR OF THB MANAWATU HERALD. Sir. — You tried to be funny at the expense of the Borough Council re wire netting round the triangle. It was not put up for ducks as anybody with common sense must know that these birds require water, and there is no pond there, though if the Reserves Account balance gets very large, the Council might consider it worth while to make one large and deep enough to , duck obnoxious and would-be-funny editors in. Anyone would think an editor was a man of keen observance, and as the triangle is only a few steps from your sanctum, I am surprised you have not noticed that considerable damage is continually being done by obnoxious animals (obnoxious because they have no business in the street and reserves), such as fowls, pigs, dogs and The Council I understand are doing their best to make this little reserve as pretty as possible for the coming season, and your local was quite uncalled for. — I am, &c, Reserve. Foxton, 25th Sept., 1900. [If " Reserve " had only proclaimed his name the local would have been shown to be of much value by drawing forth the admission " that considerable damage is continually being done by obnoxious animals." We shall look to Reserve to do his best with the local authority to abate this nuisance. — Ed. M.H.]
