The Palmerston Sewage.

What we have written on the evils of permitting Palmerston to discharge its sewage into the river has been amply borne out by the following paragraph which appeared in the Standard on Friday last : — We understand that several gentlemen paid a visit yesterday to the sewerage outlet at the Manawatu River, in consequence of some complaints which have been made in reference to the nuisance created by the deposit lodged there. We understand that instead of the pipes lodging the sewerage into the river, as has been generally supposed, there is a distance of about 200 yards between the end of the pipe and the water, so that it is only in times of flood that the sewerage is cleared away. It is said that some steps will be taken to compel the Council to abate the nuisance.
