— ♦ The Foxton team journeyed to Wereroa on Saturday to play the Wanderers, but when the team arrived there they found no signs of any of their opponents, who had evidently fled to witness the Horowhenua- Levin match, and left the ground and game*
to Foxton. The captains of the two teams afterwards met when it was agreed that the Wanderers had forfeited the game to Foxton. It would 1 have only been courteous if the Wanderers had informed the Foxton players that they intended forfeiting, and thus have saved them the journey for nothing. Horowhenua were defeated by Levin on Saturday by 3 points to nil, after a stubbornly contested forward game. The following shows the positions of the four leading teams competing :— Played Won Pts. Otaki 11 9 18 Levin 11 9 18 Foxton 11 8 16 Horowhenua 11 8 16 In the second round neither Foxton or Levin have met with defeat, and when these teams meet at Foxton on Saturday, one of the greatest struggles of the season may be looked for. | The Foxton team will appear in Thursday's issue.
