The Suicide of Cecil WilHams.

- — » At the inquest on Cecil Williams, at Featherstori the jury returned a verdict of suicide while temporarily insane. The act must have been one of great determination. Deceased had to climb some distance up the tree before he reached the first bough, which was about twenty feet from the ground. Standing on this he must have tied the rope on to a bough several feet above his head and fastened the other end round his neck, and then jumped off, the effect being that his neck was broken. Dr. Palmer gave evidence that deceased had been staying with him in April last for the good of his health, but appeared to be in a state of melancholia. On the 2nd of May he disappeared and search for him was made for several days, but no tidings were heard of him. The rope with which deceased hung himself was one taken from witness' stable. He recognised several articles found on the clothes of deceased, also a paper produced on which was written — " Selfish to the end it is necessary that I do this."
