A Stabbing Affair.
A stabbing affair of a serious nature occurred at Mitchelltown suburb on Monday night. A young man named Frank Perrott, express driver and member of the Mitchelltown Brass Band, was stabbed on the right breast and is in a serious condition. Walter George Williams, employed at Barrett's Hotel, has been arrested on the charge of having committed the act. It is stated as Williams and two other young men were escorting two female friends home to Mitchelltown, they met Perrott and some other members of the Brass Band. Some remarks, it is alleged, were made by the bandsmen to Williams, who according to the statement made to the police, lost his temper, and rushing up to Perrott, dealt him a violent blow on the right breast. It was not until Perrott reached home that it was discovered he bad been stabbed. Medical evidence was obtained, and it was found the lung was penetrated, but hemorrahage having now ceased, the doctor hopes he will pull through. Williams was arrested on Tuesday morning.
