METHODIST SOCIAL.
The Methodists were determined to keep up the Governor's visit and consequently turned up in large numbers to the social on Monday evening, the attendance being larger than on any previous occasion. The programme was opened with the duet "Convent Bells" by the Rev. W. Woollass and Mr A. Saunders. Miss Wallace followed with one of her enjoyable recitations. Mr Drummond. sang " Queen of the Earth " in his usual style and received a well deserved encore. Mr F. Bray was most happy in 'his amnsing talks on " Kissing " " Old Maids," etc., and received an encore each time. Mrs Woollass sang " No, Sir," and for an encore gave "Barney take me Home again," and Mr Woollass replied with "I will take you Taome Kathleen." Mr Drummond gave " Whisper and I shall hear," and had to refuse another encore. Mr A. Morgan recited a patriotic piece in praise of our soldiers, and especially the New Zealanders. Miss Simpson sang " Kate O' Shane." Mr Woollass gave " Dot baby of mine " and pleased everybody. Mr G. Simpson sang a quaint old melody and Miss Spring gave a song entitled " Do not love." Mr Farmer, of Shannon, gave a rendering on the violin of the selection " Alice where art thou," Miss White accompanying on the piano. Miss C. Austin was the accompanist for the evening. Supper was handed round and everybody enjoyed it, the run out to the bridge is evidently good for the I appetite bnt there was an abundant supply of good thing 9. Games were indulged in and afforded considerable i amusement. A vote of thanks to all j the performers and the provider of the \- supper brought a most enjoyable evenj ing to a close.
