_ •—^ — la spite of the inclement weather . last evening there was a good attend*. .... ance at the sopial given by Messrs T. Westwood and G. Stiles. The pro- . gramme was. opened by a pianoforte selection given in a masterly manner • fiy Mr J. Kersley. The orchestra, con- • sisting of Misses Austin (2), Mr Tv . Betty, Mr C. Austin and Mr Kearsley, then gave a fine selection* which. was.^, ( greatly enjoyed. Mr T. Westwood followed with a song, after which Mr * and Mrs Wbollass gave the duet " Ora - :< ; Pro Nobis." Miss Spring rendered a* ••■ song, " Chatting," in good style; The - orchestra gave another sdectta^ aa& v songs were also given by Moss Simjt -^ son, Mr S. Brmia (encored), Mr G. Simpson (encored), and Mr C. Spring (encored). A splendid supper was handed round and greatly enjoyed by* all. The games were a great feature of the evening's entertainment and caused intense merriment. On the motion of Mr S. H. Baker a hearty. - vote of thanks was passed to the per* formers and to" Mr Westwood and Mr Stilus, to which Mr Westwood suitably replied, saying it spoke well for the popularity of the socials when so many came out and braved such a stormy night. The singing of>*' God save the Queen" brought a most enjoyable evening to a close.
