GENERAL COLVILE RETURN-
ING TO ENGLAND
Major-General Bir Henry ColvileJ commander of the Ninth Division, has been ordered to return to England. •
The " Daily Mail " states that the General's return to England is in consequence of the Heilbron and Lindley districts, in Orange River Colony, being in such an unsatisfactory state.
FIGHTING IN THE SOUTH.
Major-General Clements'a troops have seized and burned a Boer oamp near Lindley in the north-east of Orange River Colony, the casualties being two killed and thirteen wounded.
Some farmhouses in the Senekal district which had frequently been used as fortr, by the enemy have been burned.
TREATMENT OF THE SICK.
With regard to the charges of deficient hospital arrangements, Lord Roberts endorses the opinion expre39ed by Mr Conan Doyle, whp is acting as a press correspondent at the front, that under the circumstances of an unprecedented pressure of sickness, and the limited resources of the Medical Department. the violent outbreak of typhoid had been combated very weU. CIVILIXNS SENT AWAY. Lord Eoberts has ordered the civilians who have been returning to Johannesburg to retire to Bloemfontein.
