Foxton Borough Council.
The ordinary monthly meeting was held last night at 8 o'clock. Present— Crs Jenks, Purcell, Baker, Spelman and Aldridge, and in the absence of the Mayor Cr Jeoks was elected to the chair. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Proposed by Cr Jenks, seconded by Cr Purcell, That permission be granted to Edmund Osborne to erect a verandah in accordance with the byelaws of the Borough. Carried. Proposed by Cr Purcell, seconded by Cr Aldridge, That the following alterations be made in the rate-roll :— James Turner, as owner of sections 15 to 18, 21 to 24, and 27 to 30, Russell-street, instead of Donald Manson ; Arthur Ernest Smith, as owner of section 25, instead of Gray's trustees ; Benjamin Williams, as owner of section 117, instead of Gray's trustees. Carried. Proposed by Cr Jenks, seconded by Cr Purcell, That the reports as read be adopted and suggestions embodied therein be given effect to. Carried. Proposed by Cr Baker, seconded by Cr Aldridge, That Mr A. Reeve be instructed to lower the culvert in Baker-street at entrance of his gate to its proper depth, and that the work be done to the satisfaction of tbe Council. Carried. Proposed by Cr Aldridge, seconded by Cr Spelman, That the accounts as read be passed for payment. Carried. Applications tor ranging were-opened from H. Bradcock and A. Rand. Proposed by Cr Purcell, seconded by Cr Baker, That the tender of A. Rand for impounding horses, cattle, pigs and goats at 6d pir head, and 3d per head for sheep be accepted. Carried.
