FOXTON v. OHAU.
The Foxton team journeyed trf Levin on Saturday to fulfill their Cup fixture with Ohau. Jukes captained Ohau and Purrio the visitors. Foxton won the toss and as there was wind decided to kick off, which, being followed up quickly by the forwards took Ohau off their guard. Except for some loose, forward play, where the Ohau forwards, being a fast lot shone out, the Foxton team kept their opponents on the defensive Jbr the beet parfe of the first spell. The Foxton forwards were now playing a grand game, eclipsing by far any of their previous play. From a short pass from Johns (sub.) to Furrie. the latter was enabled to score an easy try, which was not converted. After a little give and take play Foxton was awarded a free kick, from which Furrie piloted the ball over the bar. The first spell ended Foxton 6, Ohau nil. On resuming Ohau were quickly on the defensive, but after a short time, by fast following up they were enabled to clear their line. From a long punt by Furrie the ball wen* out at the corner about a yard from the goal-line. From the throw out Gustersen was able to score a clever try. The kick at goal was a failure. After a good deal of loose play the Ohau forwards carried the ball from one end of the field to the other and scored a try close to the posts. The kick was successful. Play then became very willing, but the Foxton forwards soon had the upper hand and from some tight play near the corner Dunn scored. Furrie failed in the attempt at goal, and the game ended Foxton 12 points, Ohau 5. Mr F. Jones refereed in a very impartial manner, for which he was accorded three cheers.
