News has been received from West \ftite that Major A. H. Morris, of the 'lold Coast Constabulary, with seven ■lundred native troops, has marched form the north and entered Kumassi.

With the assistance of this force the garrison of the town is now acting on l he defensive.

A great deficiency of rations . and ammunition exists at Kumassi. The Governor (Sir Frederick Hodgson) md his wife were reported safe on the |th inst. The death is reported of Captain Maguire, of the Kumassi local forces, Major Morris, commander of the newly-arrived reinforcement, is wounded.
