Meeting of Flexmillers.
A meeting of Flaxmillers was held at Mr F. S. Eas< 's residence last night, when the fc .1 wing millers *"c-: ;•. . Sent :— M. ssrs O. Gardner, P. , P. Heme, .y, A. King, .. Baker, J. Symons, C. Symons, F. Easton, and P., H., and O. Austin. ' Several millers sent apologies for non-attendance. Mr O. Gardner was voted to the chair, and explained the various objects of the meeting, after which the following resolutions were proposed and carried unanimously : — Proposed by O. Gardner, seconded by P. Hennessy, That Mr H. Austin, Ot Messrs Austin Bros., be appointed representative of th& Flaxmillers of Foxton and the surrounding district, to visit the Philippine Islands in order to gather all information possible. And tbat Flaxmiller? who contribute the sum of two guineas towards defraying tbe expenses of the . delegate, be furnished with fnll particulars in connection with the production, and probable supplies of Manila, and all matters pertaining to tbe welfare ofthe Flaxmillers, which may be obtained by the delegate. Proposed by P. Hennessy, seconded by A. King* That this meeting conifers that the time has arrived when 1t would be advantageous to the Flaxmillers to form an association, and ilfat ah association be now formed, to be named the "Foxton Flaxmillers' Association."
Proposed by R. Walden, seconded by P. frennessy, That Mr C. Austin be appointed secretary, pro tern, to the Flaxmillers' Association.
Proposed by Jas. Symons, seconded by A. Baker, Tnat it is desirable that a*duly qualified government flax grader bf^^ggaMlted, and tbat the secretary be instructed to communicate with the Minister of Agriculture and forward a . copy of t_tje resolution. Mention Was made by one of the mUlcts present, of the high prices ruiIti^for grain sacks, and that probably a fia&d outlet could be found for tow ' at a rumunerative figure for the purpose of manufacturing various qualities TTwKr,n_atter wiH most probably be Investigated by, the association. A vote of thanks to the chairman for presiding, and to Mr Easton for . the*use of bis room brought the meetlog to a close.
