+ The American military attaches at Pekin have been ordered by the United States Government to proceed to Tokio, the capital of Japan. This is construed to mean that an early conflict between Russia and Japan is expected. The Japanese- Consols at Sydney considers that the outlook in Korea fs serious. -'-- -..'■• * He says that Japan is ready for war and will not allow Russia to puskJier too far. , The Consul hinted to his interviewer that the Japanese were of opinion that England would help' them in Case of an attack. The Japanese Consul in Melbourne, says that Japan does not desire war, 'but if Russia forces her by arbitrary action, she will fight to the bitter end. Japan, he says, could in a short time pour half a million troops into Kj>rea. ■The officers of a Japaitef§' %il steamer which has arrived at'BrisbaHe, declare that the position in Korea is very strained. War, they say. is inevitable unless Russia eases the situa- , tion. . .
