Rebellion in China.
+ , The Chinese rebels known as the "Boxers," whose ravages in the north-east of the kingdom have lately been the subject of much concern, are now plundering within twenty miles of Pekin. Japanese warships have landed a~§ force of bluejackets at Tientsin, on the Peiho river, which forms the river port of the capital. The " Boxers " have destroyed the railway workshops at Fengtai, eight miles from Pekin. A number of Belgian engineers who were engaged in the workshops are surrounded and besieged on a hill. A party of Frenchmen and Germans has gone to the rescue. The Powers have announced to the Chinese Government that patties of bluejackets from the warships will return to guard the various legations. A number of foreign marines and bluejackets have been landed in readiness to proceed to Pekin to pro* tect the various legations. The Chinese troops stoned several journalists who were entering Pekin. Many of the troops are deserting and joining the rebels. ;
