Foxton Football Club.
A general meeting of the Foxton Football Club was held at the Manawatu Hotel on Monday evening last. There was a very good attendance. Mr L. Furrie (Captain of the Club), occupied the chair. The minutes of the previous meeting were read ard confirmed.
It was resolved to challenge the Horowhenua F.C. of Levin to play a match at Foxton on 24th May. The secretary and captain were appointed to wait on Mr Barham and enquire as to coach fare for travelling to Levin, and try and get the fare fixed at 2- 6d eacb.
Hearty votes of thanks were passed to Mr Spelman for the free use of his horses and mower, and to Mr McGonigle for his work in connection with the ground mowing. S The cup fixtures were then read, and a hope was expressed that every member of the team would always do his best to get off on Saturday afternoons so as to keep the same team together as much as possible. The secretary, captain and vicecaptain were appointed a selection committee for Cup matches. The following are the Club's Presidents and vice-presidents for the year : —Patron, His Worship the Mayor; Presidents, Messrs Hunter and Stanse\l; Vice-presidents, Messrs J. Cummerfield, Hickson, W. Cook, and F. Easton.
Votes of thanks to the chair and to Mr Wanklyn for use of room closed the meeting.
The Club gives every sign of being a success, as already it has a membership of 42 paid up, and has procured and paid for 20 green and white hooped jerseys, which until bought by the membera are the property of the Club. It is to be hoped that the membera will buy them as soon as possible, and not leave them on the Club's hands. It is believed that by the time all subscriptions are in there will be a membership of over 50, but it is a great pity that all these are not playing members. The following nave been selected to represent Foxton against Levin at Levin on Saturday next :— Forwards, A. O'Dwyer and W. Sullivan (wings), Rakena, Desmond, Dunn, Kennedy, Brown, Ward, Munro ; half, E. Hunter; five-eighth, L. Hughes; threequarters, E. Smith, L. Furrie, H. Drummond; full-back, E. Reade.
