Methodist Church.
The Quarterly Social of the above Church was held last evening and was very well attended. The meeting was ably presided over by Mr Edmund Osborne, who < called . upon Miss Osborne and Mr G. King for a. piano and organ selection, which was beautifully rendered, the two instruments chording together in fine style. Mr Woollass gave the financial statement for the quarter, showing income from collections, £20 13 4<i; quarterage, £8 ; Rev. Woodward's le«ture, £i 158 6d ; harvest festival, £z 3s ; Shannon, £4; Moutoa, £1 12s 2d; and last night's social, £3 10s ; total, £41 143. The expenditure, with a deficiency of £1 1 from last quarter, was about £55, leaving a deficiency on the present quarter of about £13. Mr Woollass pointed out that he had jusf started a third year's work in Foorton, and solar as could be seen, there was every prospect of success, the services being all well attended. Messrs Westwood and Howan both gave practical speeches, and congratulated the church and officials that Mr Woollass was remaining a Pastor for another year and urged all to join the church and help on the good work.
The following items were also given during the evening: — Miss Perreau. recitation, " Mother's letter " ; Mr A. Morgan, reading, " The Pastor's Salary." Mrs Woollass sang •' Killarney so Fair," which was encored, and responded to with " I take you home again Kathleen," and later on Mrs Woollass gave " A tale of a Fan." Miss Anderson gave ••Ehranon the Rhine," and Mr G. King gave a very fine selection of the organ. " What
are the wild waves saying," d let ty Mr and Mrs Woollass. Mr Simpson purposed a very hearty vote of thanks to all who had helped to make the evening so enjoyable, which was seconded by Mr A. Saunders, and carried, and a most hearty and a very successful evening was closed with the Benediction.
