Foxton Borough Council.

A special meeting of the above was held last night at 7.30 o'clock. Present— The Mayor (Cr W, B. Rhodes), and Crs. F. E. Jenks, W. Purcell, H. Aldridge, C. Austin, H. Baker and B. Spelman. Proposed by the Mayor, seconded by Cr Austin, That this Council by special resolution take all needful steps to sell the piece of waste land on No, 1 Line to Mr A. S. Eastou. Carried.

Tenders for carting metal were received as follows :— From Stewart an,d Andrews, carting metal half-mile, is; 1 mile, is 8d ; i£ miles, 2s : 2 miles ; 2s 4d; 2^ miles, 23 gd; 3 miles, 3s 3d; 3£ miles, 3s 6d per yard. For completion of metalling Wirokino Road the tender of Stewart and Andrews at 2s 6d per yard was also the only tender received.

Proposed by Cr Austin, seconded by Cr Purcell, That both tenders of Messrs Stewart and Andrews be accepted for metal carting as per specifications. Carried. ...

Proposed by Cr Purcell, seconded by Cr Jenks, That the offer of H. Coley ' to let the Borough the use of one abre on the Target Reserve for a rubbish depot be accepted, and that Mr Coley be required to keep the windmill in a thorough state of repair. Carried. Proposed by the Mayor, seconded by Cr Purcell, That the clerk make the * necessary arrangements for getting the— rubbish depot fenced. Carried. Proposed by Cr Austin, seconded by Cr Spelman, That the public be notified that a rubbish depot has been provided, and that no rubbish shall be deposited in any other part of the Borough. Carried. ~
