The Bubonic Plague in Sydney.

The plague patient King was em.-. oloved on the wharves in Darling Harbour. The Union Steam Ship Company is taking great precautions to prevent rats from boarding its ships. The child Dovey, reported yesterday to be suffering from the plague, is dead. Another case, that of a youth named Owles, who has also been attacked, was discovered at Redfern. In connection with nearly every case so far reported, the disease has been traced to the water-side. Wide . reaching precautionary measures are being employed. The City Council has decided to close its rubbish tips, and to carry all *he rubbish of the city to sea. Rats are being systematically destroyed at the instance of the; authorities. Over 9000 have been killed during f he past week, and the shipping com* oqnies and some other firms have also killed large numbers. The president of the Board of Health says that although in some countries white people have not suffered to an alarming extent from the plague, the case may prove different here. The Cabinet has rejected the Board if Health's suggestion to set aside a hospital for the treatment of plague sufferers, and proposes to erect for the purposes a temporary building, which will be destroyed when the disease is stamped out. The health authorities report mother case of plague. The sufferer ?s a man belonging to Prymont, named Prescot. No details in regard to the case are available.
