Wedding,
« STII»ES-CARTER. A very pleasant gathering took place yesterday at the residence of Mr J. Carter, Moutoa, the occasion being the wedding of Miss C. M. Carter to Mr G. H. Stiles. The ceremony took place at 2 o'clock, the bride being given away by her father, Miss Ella Carter being bridesmaid, ahd Mr Walter Carter best man. The Rev. W. Woollass officiated, assisted by the Rev. W. C. Woodward. The guests consisted of the members of Mr Carter's numerous family, and Mr and Mrs Carl Anderson of Rongotea. The bride looked exceedingly pretty, and was beautifully attired in a dress of cream nun's veiling with the orthodox wreath and veil, and carried a lovely bouquet of cream roses and maidenhair fern. The bridesmaid was dressed in white muslin, and also had a bouquet of rose- j buds and maiden-hair fern. The presents were numerous and costly, ! amongst them being a munificent gift of three hundred sovereigns to the bride from her father. Afternoon tea was handed round immediately after the ceremony, and the following toasts were drunk:— "The bride and bridegroom," proposed by Mr Carter, senr., and replied to by Mr G. H. Stiles ; "The Bridesmaid," proposed by Mr W. Carter, and replied to by Mr F. Carter; " The Bride's Parents," by Mr Carl Anderson in a most felicitous speech, and replied to by Mr Carter; "The Bridegroom's Parents," hy Rev. W. Woollass, and replied to by Mr G. H. Stiles. After this the bride retired, and soon afterwards the happy pair drove off to start their honeymoon, which is to be spent in the Napier district. The travelling costume was a green amazon cloth coat and skirt with a cream silk vest, and a pretty hat with cream silk bows.
