ABUSE OF THE RED CROSS. Several of the Boer prisoners brought southward to the Orange river have enormous red crosses an the sleeves of the tunics. They were among those who acted as gunners at the Grasspan engagement, the red crosses being a fresh ruse to outwit the British.
