The Weather.
SYDNEY ASTRONOMER'S FORE-
CAST,
The Marine Department has received from Mr O. Presa, mathematical astronomer at Sydney, a special lunar meteorological weather forecast for farmers and gardeners for the period of one mouth, dating from November 12th to December Btb, 1899. Tbe weather forecast relates chiefly to the N( j w Zealand coast Rnd the highland*, and is supplied by the Dt-pinment " for what it may be worth." Presa says : — " Between Ihe above-men-lioned dates the weather will be unpropitious Rod turbulent, with destructive storm?, f quails, lightning, winds, heavy vain, and hail in place?, The will be dangerously rough. .Mostly all vegetation in this colony will suffer, as those parts of ihe coluuy which arc uot «ff-e;td by storms, pqnall?, flood?, &c, will be visited by hot winds, dryuese, &c. Late sown crops of this year will be a total failure from (ho ff&ct of the weather. Most boisterous .winds will blow from the north'west-. 1 his wind will be rather prpdomiuact during the abov<-ineniioned period, and I may add this kind of weather will, more or less, prevail all over Australasia. If due time were employed tne exact place could be loca'ed, and a statement made as to how it would be affected, whether by storms, winds, floods, &c. Shipowners are also advised to be on the look-out and watch (Jaily reports of onr meteorologist, as such precaution may save life and aessels."
