Dr Hornabrook, a surgeon attached to the British forces, advanced alone to a party of forty Boers who had taken refuge in a Btore, and called upon them to surrender. The burghers obeyed the summon?, and stated that they wee very glad that the fighting was over. The Hussars and Dublin Fusiliers who we<*p captured after the Buft'e of Gtencop, have been taken to Pretoria, where they are being Well treated.
The party of Hussars who arrived at Ladypmith after escaping from a Boer pursuit formed part of a force despatched by Lieutenant Colonel Yule to intercept some of the Boers who had been routed at E'ands Liagte. But instead of cutting off the enemy they found themselves intercepted, and being hard pressed by a foe much superior in strength, had to choose between flight and annihilation.
