AT MAFEKING.
Colonel Baden-Powell is considered to have made a splendid defence of Mafeking, though there are only 600 men in the garrison.
The Free State troops who have bo far threatened the town are now moving away to support Commandant Cronje in his impending attack upon Eimherley. The " South African News " publishes particulars of another ruse practised upon the Boers by Colonel Baden-Powell in hig defence of MafekiDg.
On the 18th inafc. he despatched along the . railway a train of two trucks laden with dynamite. Shots were fired at the train, and an explo9ition followed, which caused the death of fifty Boers. The en gine driver who had the pluck to carry out this desperate scheme was named By ferry.
