Borough Election.

The election of three councillors to fill the place of the three who retired by expiration of tifiae took place at the Library on Thursday. The proceedings passed off very pleasantly, though no very great interest was taken in the election, as the highest number 'polled was 71 out of 304 voters on the Burgess List. Some of the candidates did a little canvassing whilst others did none, yet there are only three votes between the three -members elected. The numbers polled by the six candidates is announced elsewhere by the Returning Officer, the three new Councillors being Messrs Austin, Jenks, and Baker. Mr Austin was the only candidate present at the declaration ot the poll, and he very briefly thanked his supporters.
