- , ■ ♦ .. ■■/ — - Simples of stone from an outcrop near Mount Torrent South Australii have assayed over 17 z of palladium md about 17dwts of gold to the ton . Palladium is an exceedingly scarce and valuable mineral. It occurs in i Brazil, and on the Harz, but the chief supplies comes from working over the plantiniferous residues of various mints. It resembles platinum in appearanco but isliarder. It fuses more readily than platinum melting about a* easily as wrought iron. It is both ductile und malleable and would be a very useful metal if it •vera not 83 scarce as to be expensive *nd irregularly obtainable.
