The Whangaroa.
- • " The schooner Whangaroa, 13a tons, Wm. Cozens, master, sailed from Fox* ton on 9th July, and experienced variable weather on the passage, arriving at Sydney on 20th. Left Sydney on 3rd August, arriving at Newcastle next day, and sailing on return to Foxton on 6th inst. Of the passage across Captain Cozens reports having met with exceptionally coarse weather, the vessel being hove-too under a closereefed mainsail for a whole week, during which she was driven 250 miles back towards the N.S.W. coast. Fortunately no damage was sustained, the little vessel behaving remarkably well under the trying circumstances. Since her last departure from this port the Whangaroa has changed ownership, Messrs Gamman and Co. having sold her to Messrs Nelson and Robertson, of Sydney. She comes here this trip under charter to her old owners, bringing a full cargo of coal, and loads white pine back to Sydney for the same firm. Her future movements are uncertain. Meantime Captain Cozens still retains command.
