SAD DROWNING OF A YOUNG MAN.

We regret to report that a man named James Linklater, whilst working on Messrs Kemp and Jupp's punt opposite the mjll of Hickson and Reeves on Saturday evening, fell into the river and was drowned. There being a flood in the river the young man was swept away, and though everything was done to try and find the body, the search has been unsuccessful and will be, we fear, until the time for the chances of his floating comes, The lood, however, makefc^this chance very doubtful.
