The Flood.

As it rainad hard here on Friday and Saturday, it was not surprising to see a notioe in the post office from Palmerston stating there was heavy rain there and a flood wa3 expected. The river waß fairly foil on Saturday night and on Sunday morning it btgan to run into the Motoa swamp at vhe Kuri Euri drain, which caused the village of flix cutters and carters to move onwards. By midday all had got out of the wet, and the low part of Mr Gardner's land was under water. Some of the cutter's did not move their tents or swags but left them fastened to the ridge poles, and it is possible they may be found missing when they are ibie to return. The water came over the Moutoa road near the Shannon ferry and ibo near Mr Edward's farm on Sunday but tfee river iell daring tht night and yesterday it was confined to its proper channel.
